Artillery Shells (Mortar Kits)
Artillery Shell Kits, often called mortars, are consumer fireworks that launch individual aerial shells from a reusable tube. Each kit includes launch tubes mounted to a base and separate shells that must be loaded one at a time before firing.
Unlike multi-shot cakes, artillery shells require manual loading for each shot, giving users more control over timing and pacing during a display.
When using an artillery shell, the user places a shell into the launch tube with the lift charge end down. The fuse needs to be run out the top of the tube. Once the fuse is lit, it ignites the lift charge and the shell launches into the air, breaking at height and producing aerial effects.
Artillery shells are some of the most popular fireworks for consumers for their larger aerial breaks and their ability to space out shots manually. They are a great option for people who want to build their own sequence, and are great for finales or highlight moments.
